NYS = Drainage Experts

Water is the number one cause of damage to your asphalt and the subgrade below it. Drainage issues both above and below your asphalt can lead to visible cracking, ultra fine cracking, and potholes, among other complications. As drainage experts, we offer individual troubleshooting and custom solutions to your drainage needs. Poor drainage is a threat to your asphalt, but this is our specialty. What can be a large, daunting issue will feel like a minor inconvenience (we take care of the real hard part). We handle all the hassle and you can rest assured that at the end of the day your asphalt will be properly draining and saved from rapid extensive damage. From simple fixes to complex ones, we can meet all of your drainage needs with expertise and professionalism, and take all of the worry out of your hands.

Simple Drainage Solutions

It might be reassuring to know that not all drainage issues require extensive work. Catch basins (or storm basins as they’re more commonly known) are meant to collect pavement runoff and connect into a storm drain system to prevent flooding and, you guessed it, properly drain water. Sometimes, catch basins require an adjustment to ensure proper pitch for drainage. Other times, it’s simply a matter of cleaning out the catch basin to remove sediment and other debris.

We diagnose drainage issues using a number of top-of-the-line techniques, from using video cameras to ground penetrating radar (GPR) to get the best idea of what the issue is and how best to resolve it.

  • Channel drains
  • Catch basins
  • Jetting
  • French drains
  • Catch basin cleaning
  • Storm sewage systems
  • Pumping systems
  • Downspouts and more!

Got drainage issues?

We can help!

Parking lot drainage is typically overlooked. When asphalt is done right, there should be very few visually concerning aspects. However, asphalt done wrong makes itself very apparent. Some major things to look for:

Water Pooling on Asphalt

Water should drain off of the parking lot, not pool in the asphalt. We slope our parking lots so that water drains off of the asphalt. Low areas can be leveled out with asphalt to prevent pooling.

Standing Water Up Against Building

The original design most likely failed to include the appropriate drains, inlets or curbing to redirect the water. To correct this, we would install french drains and tie then into existing catch basins.

Catch Basins and French Drains

French Drains

For many businesses or homeowners, drainage issues can pose a threat to the conditions of your property. You may find water leaking into your home, pooling on your asphalt, or flooding your lawn. If you are experiencing standing or pooling water on your property, installing french drains and catch basins will fix this problem.

A french drain is a subsurface drain that consists of pipes installed in a low lying trench covered with rocks and a fabric barrier. These pipes collect excess groundwater and channel it away from the flooding or soaking area. The pooling water will travel downwards into the underground trench, and the tubing will collect and feed the water into a catch basin. By draining this water, you are protecting the foundation of your home from becoming unstable and decreasing the risk of damaging your landscaping and asphalt.

Catch Basins

A catch basin is an integral part of the drainage system, as it catches and holds the runoff water coming from the french drains. A catch basin is installed at the lowest point of your property and is essentially a grate covering an underwater tank that connects to underground storm sewers. Not only does the catch basin drain the standing water off the property, but it also filters waste and debris so that it does not enter the drainage system. By using a french drain in conjunction with a catch basin, you will be able to transfer the water away from your property, drain it effectively, and stop any damage from further incurring.

Benefits of Using
French Drains and Catch Basins

Drain Excess Water

Flooding and standing water make it difficult to fully enjoy your property and its intended use. By installing french drains and catch basins, you can get rid of the accumulated water, and finally address any residual problems that it has caused to your property.

Protect Your Asphalt

Standing water will eventually erode the asphalt in your driveway or parking lot, causing cracking and eventual damage to your foundation. Asphalt damage and flooding also cause potential issues for drivers as they can not safely park, or navigate the parking lot or driveway.

Minimal Installation and Upkeep

French drains are low cost and easy to install with the help of an experienced and efficient team. They require minimal maintenance and can last years with no damage. Catch basins are usually already installed on public streets and require minimal cleaning.

Increase Property Value

Flooding and excess water can damage the foundation of your property and even destroy your home, business or parking lot. At the very least, flooding can be a nuisance and added stress for property owners. By implementing a cohesive drainage system you are adding value to your property and investing in it for the next potential buyer. An efficient and up to date drainage system saves you the headache of having to deal with structural damages and various problems down the road.
